Top Plays for the Friday Night DraftKings NBA Slate

DraftKings has a loaded slate of games for this packed Friday night NBA slate. While we are still trying to make complete sense of the whirlwind of trades that went down yesterday, we felt obligated to put out another lineup article as our last two have cashed in GPP contest.

Before we jump into our picks for the Friday night slate, here are the top Vegas team lines for this slate. Keep in mind these articles are written before 9am EST and there are lines for just slightly more than half the games.

Point Guards

Ricky Rubio

DraftKings Price – $7,100

Just keep riding Rubio until he cools off, which I genuinely don’t think happens. He needs a price correction to well over $8,500, as he looks like he’s returned to his form we saw when he was a DFS stud with Minnesota. The trade yesterday just paves the way for Rubio/Mitchell to be the Jazz backcourt for the next few seasons.

Dennis Schroder

DraftKings Price – $7,000

Is it possible to trade away Isaiah Thomas and get worse in point guard DvP? If only for a night, it is. Lebron will likely play point for most of the night, but Calderon should see the lion’s share of minutes when he moves off the ball. Schroder should have a big night against what should be a fairly thin Cavs roster tonight.

Looking for a punt? Sean Kilpatrick is our punt of the night!

Shooting Guards

Donovan Mitchell

DraftKings Price – $6,900

Yes, we are rolling with the full Jazz backcourt tonight. We likely would have had both players in our picks even before the trade happened last night, but the added minutes and usage just solidified their spots in today’s article. The matchup isn’t great with Charlotte, but both players are too hot to not have some exposure to tonight.

J.R. Smith

DraftKings Price – $4,800

J.R. could see 40 minutes tonight, and we know he will have the green light with 4 rotational players out of the mix. Look for Smith to have one of his best games of the season, but to quickly fade into irrelevancy as Rodney Hood takes over the SG position for the remainder of the season.

Small Forwards

Stanley Johnson

DraftKings Price – $5,100

Stan the man again! Stanley has finally arrived, and he looks like he will be a cog in this Pistons backcourt moving forward. He has consistently been over 4x since seeing the bump in minutes and has legitimate 6x+ upside every night as he contributes in every single statistical category. The Pistons have one of the highest team totals in this slate and the Clippers are one of the weaker perimeter defending teams in the league.

Al-Farouq Aminu

DraftKings Price – $5,500

Aminu is another guy that has a favorable matchup, but isn’t necessarily matchup dependent as he’s so active. The Kings are the most favorable PF matchup in the NBA, and Aminu looks like a lock to hit at least 5x tonight.

Power Forwards

Domantas Sabonis

DraftKings Price – $5,000

Sabonis is our value lock of the night. His skill set translated directly into what Boston has struggled with all season, and we know Greg Monroe ain’t fixing nothing defensively for the Celtics. Domantas has reached 5x value in 7 of 10 including a few 7x performances over that stretch.

Trey Lyles

DraftKings Price – $5,000

Trey Lyles is one of the more underrated assets in the NBA. He’s 6’10” can play the 3 or 4, can handle the ball, pass, shoot, rebound, and plays solid defense. He has reached value in 9 of 10 games, including four 6-7x games over that stretch.

Centers

Zach Randolph

DraftKings Price – $5,700

Randolph had 17 and 5 when these two teams met earlier this season, and I think he’s playing much better ball than he was at that time. He’s playing 30 mpg and has reached 6x value in 4 of his last 5 games. Portland’s weakness on defense is clearly their frontcourt, and Randolph is the only scoring threat the Kings have inside.
