QB Targets for Late FanDuel CFB Contests
DraftKings Price – $8,400
I think you can make an argument for Mayfield, Prescott, and Falk in this top spot this week, and in a perfect world we could start two of the three. If I had to pick one, I’m going with the red hot Mayfield facing a struggling defense, at home, in a huge game. Not only has Mayfield been on fire lately (34+ in 4 of his last 5 starts) but he’s easy to stack with Sterling Shepard who has played extremely well in every big game Oklahoma has had over the last two seasons.
DraftKings Price – $5,400
If you are looking to take a shot with a cheap QB option, I’m rolling out the Redshirt Freshman making his first start, Cade Apsay. Apsay looked poised and accurate, throwing for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns after stepping in for an injured Sefo Liufau against USC. Washington State’s defense has been strong this year, and Apsay did give up several sacks last week, but this is a game where Colorado could be coming from behind and forced to throw it a ton.
RB Targets for Late FanDuel CFB Contests
DraftKings Price – $8,400
Similar to the situation at QB, there are three running backs that jump off the screen this week in Christian McCaffrey, Donnell Pumphrey, and Tyler Ervin. Pumphrey has the best matchup and has been the most consistent of the three this season, but splits time with our value RB pick of this slate, so we narrowed it down to McCaffrey and Ervin. Both guys have flash 60 point upside, but Ervin is our pick because his team can’t score without him… Hogan can have a big game for Stanford, Remound Wright will vulture a McCaffrey touchdown, but Tyler Ervin is guaranteed to get 30+ carries and score multiple touchdowns in this matchup. San Jose’s quarterbacks have combined for 14 touchdowns this season, Ervin has 14 himself, and is the team’s third leading receiver. I think Ervin has the highest upside of the group, and is guaranteed to get enough work to reach that ceiling.
DraftKings Price – $4,300
I mentioned Pumphrey has the best matchup of the week, UNLV allows nearly 6 YPC on the season. However, he is splitting carries with Chase Price, who has had 12+ touches in 6 straight weeks and has scored 5 touchdowns in his last 4 games. The senior is averaging 17 carries per game over the Aztecs last 3, a similar workload against UNLV this week would all but guarantee 100+ yards and a score.
WR Targets for Late FanDuel CFB Contests
DraftKings Price – $6,700
Mayfield to Shepard has become Oklahoma’s go-to in crunch time situations and big games. Shepard had 14 catches for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns, in the rain, against a Baylor defense that came in playing much better football than TCU is right now. Shepard had 7 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown in this game last season, and this TCU pass defense is a much more favorable matchup than last season’s. Similar to his QB, I think Shepard is a lock while guys like Coleman, Marks, and Garrett may have more upside but come with much more risk.
DraftKings Price – $4,700
TCU has clearly found something by moving Nixon into the slot opposite Turpin, and they have been looking to it often the past two weeks. Nixon is a 4 star running back recruit that they are throwing quick screens, seam routes, and flares to 15+ times per game over the past two weeks. He went from being completely irrelevant to having the third highest target % on the team in two weeks. The trend should continue this week as TCU tries to find a way to move the ball without Josh Doctson.
DraftKings Price – $4,600
It looks like Bear Wilson will be okay after his scary looking injury against Alabama, but he’s not likely to play this week. That leaves Fred Ross, who has had back-to-back 100 yard games against two of the nation’s best defenses, as the Bulldogs’ number 1 wide receiver. Arkansas was built to beat LSU, as they completely take away the run but give up huge yardage through the air. Brandon Harris through for over 270 yards against the Razorbacks who give up over 270 YPG through the air on the season, ranking them as the 108th pass defense in the nation. I expect a monster day for Ross, who will be a nearly impossible cover for the Arkansas secondary.
DraftKings Price – $4,100
Fields is listed as questionable this week, but, given that he played last week, I expect him to be closer to full strength against Washington State. He is listed as a full participant at practice and as the starter on page 60 of this week’s game notes. When healthy, Fields was outproducing Spruce in the weeks leading up to his injury, so he could be a nice sleeper this week at just $4,100.
