Our Favorite Plays for DraftKings Thanksgiving Day Contests

DraftKings has a ton of Thanksgiving promotions going, so we wanted to get out our favorite picks for today’s slate only. Here are our favorite six plays from the three day Thanksgiving Day slate.

Matt Ryan

The debate for most single lineup guys today is Ryan vs Brees in what clearly should be the highest scoring game of the day. Ryan has been incredibly efficient this season and will be 100% of the Falcons offense as the Saints have the league’s top run defense and the Falcons have struggled to run as of late. Ryan will throw it a ton this Thanksgiving and is the top QB in the slate.

Alvin Kamara

Kamara is clearly the top RB in this slate and is our top RB for all of week 12. He is a value lock in these high volume games and is generally extremely busy in big games for the Saints. Even at $8,300, Kamara has hit 3x+ in 3 of 4 and 6 of his last 10.

Jordan Howard

The Bears will likely lean on their offensive line and Jordan Howard with Trubisky out this week. Even though the Lions run defense has improved slightly since adding Snack Harrison, they are still the 23rd ranked run defense in terms of DVOA and are in the bottom 10 in YPC and YPG. For his career, Howard averages just under 100 total YPG against the Lions and over 5 YPC.

Julio Jones

Just like the improving Lions run defense, the Saints pass defense is trending in the right direction over the second half of the season. That being said, when a guy’s game log vs a team looks like this you get him in your lineup. Jones is on fire right now and the Saints remain the 30th ranked defense in the league vs opposing number 1 receivers, giving up over 81 YPG.

Bruce Ellington

We were as surprised as anyone that Ellington saw a 51% snap count and 9 targets last week, but the Lions are really out of options at receiver. You can’t consistently throw the ball to TJ Jones, he has proven to be too unreliable and injury and drop prone over his career. Additionally, with Kerryon out and Blount entirely ineffective, Riddick will have to be in the backfield more today. If Ellington is active he will see a ton of snaps and targets again today.

Dalton Schultz

Clearly Hooper and Reed will be the highest owned tight ends in this Thanksgiving Day slate, but we will have our shares of Dalton Schultz who gets the start for the Cowboys today. Schultz is a talented pass catching tight end in his first year out of Stanford, and is a guy Garrett recently identified as needing more opportunities. He will certainly get them with Swaim out today, we will see what he does with the added snaps and targets.
