Here for the first time, by popular demand, are our DraftKings Pick’Em Picks for week 13. For those that have asked for FanDuel Mini picks, they will be out tomorrow morning, followed by our traditional week 13 article sometime tomorrow afternoon. Those of you that have requested more NBA content, that will likely pick up next week as well.
Chalk Pick – Leonard Fournette
Our Pick – DeAndre Hopkins
The T1 group is full of guys that have been on a tear as of late. Based off the matchups, I would expect most players to be on the rookie Fournette who’s ankle is apparently close to 100%. To me, Hopkins is far too consistent to pass up on in Pick’Em. He’s scored under 14.3 points only once on DraftKings this season… that’s scary. Savage has looked slightly more comfortable and clearly has a solid connection established with Hopkins, who has PFF’s third best WR/CB matchup this week.
Chalk Pick – LeSean McCoy
Our Pick – Mike Evans
While McCoy looks like an easy pick facing the Pats who give up more yards than any other defense in the NFL, Evans was the obvious play for us. The Packers secondary is a disaster and are currently ranked 30th in DVOA vs opposing number one receivers, including 10/169/2 to AB last week. Evans gets Winston back, and should get back to some of that production we saw earlier this season.
Chalk Pick – Jordan Howard
Our Pick – DaVante Adams
Given the green 32 next to his name, I suspect Howard will be at least 40% owned, but the 49ers run defense is not a push over. In fact they are one of the better YPC defenses in the league, and will be able to load the box against the run-heavy Bears. DaVante Adams and Brett Hundley have developed great chemistry and this is arguably the best matchup they have had together. I expect both guys to put together one of their better games of the season.
Chalk Pick – Case Keenum
Our Pick – Matthew Stafford
This is a tough group to project… I think Keenum will be the highest owned as he’s been hot and gets a somewhat favorable matchup, indoors, against a banged up Falcons secondary. However, the biggest reason Keenum will be a popular pick is because the rest of the group is full of question marks.
Alex Smith may have just gone from the leading MVP candidate to the worst player in football… he’s not seeing the field whatsoever and is killing the Chiefs. Ryan has a nightmare matchup with the Vikings, Mariota can’t be trusted after blowing an extremely favorable matchup last week, and while McCown has been hot and has a favorable matchup, he’s been under 20 completions in 3 of his last 5.
If we are going to take a gamble here, we are going to do so with Stafford who has the highest ceiling of the group. I get that the Ravens defense has been unreal against the pass, they also haven’t faced a top-half of the league fantasy QB all season… they went: Dalton, Kizer, Bortles, Ben (early), EJ Manuel, Trubisky, Keenum, Matt Moore, Mariota, Hundley, Savage. Forgive me if I’m not buying that they are quite as dominate as their numbers suggest. They could be in for a rude awakening when the red hot Stafford comes in desperate for a win.
Chalk Pick – Tyrod Taylor
Our Pick – Brett Hundley
This may be one of the most balanced groups of the week 13 DraftKings Pick’em slate. Tyrod remains a fantasy darling, because he does so much with his legs, and he has a green 32 next to his name, which we know everyone loves. We hinted at this earlier, but are more than happy to roll the dice on Hundley against a Bucs secondary that has been terrible this season, playing behind a front seven that gets absolutely no pressure.
Chalk Pick – Stefon Diggs
Our Pick – Carlos Hyde
With the Falcons secondary banged up this week, I expect the fantasy community to rally behind Keenum, Thielen, and Diggs as we approach Sunday. With that in mind, Diggs will likely be extremely popular in T6. However, we like Carlos Hyde and the insane volume he’s seen in the 49ers passing game of late (8+ targets in 5 of last 6 games). The entire 49ers offense, particularly Hyde and Goodwin, should see a bump in production with Jimmy under center.
Chalk Pick – Dion Lewis
Our Pick – Marqise Lee
Looking at the NFL’s Next Gen stats, Dion Lewis has been the most efficient running back in the league over the past month. He faces a Bills defense that had a big week against the Chiefs, but entered that matchup giving up nearly 1 fantasy point per opportunity to opposing running backs. Expect a lot of owners to chase Lewis’ productivity in such a primo matchup.
Speaking of primo matchups, we will be on Lee this week who sees Kenny Moore II who enters this game giving up nearly 2 receiving yards per route run. Last week was disappointing, but the Jags are a differnt monster at home and Hurns looks like he’s out again this week.
Chalk Pick – Demaryius Thomas
Our Pick – Demaryius Thomas
Thomas is the chalk pick here, and rightfully so. I don’t know what happened to Trevor Siemian in the middle stretch of this season, but he lost his confidence and made a bunch of poor decisions. He didn’t do that last season, and certainly didn’t do that the first few weeks of this season. I think he will play well this week, and will get Thomas going early in an extremely favorable matchup with Dolphins CB Xavien Howard. If I were to go with someone else in T8 it would be Kenyan Drake who should see a ton of work with Williams out… albeit in a terrible matchup.
