It’s Friday, which of course means a great night of fantasy NBA action on DraftKings. This is a great 10 game slate with plenty of high team totals, pace, and several super-elite players active. As always, before we jump into our favorite plays for this slate let’s take a look at the highest team totals from Vegas (BetOnline):
DraftKings Salary – $7,200
Jeff Teague is the definition of a GPP-only play. One night he gives you 22 points and 12 assists, and the next night gives you 7 and 7 with 7 turnovers. He really hasn’t strung together back-to-back impressive games yet this season, but we are rolling him out after last night’s 53 point explosion against the Wolves. The main reason is the matchup, Teague loves to play the Kings, he’s averaged 48 PPG against them over his past 6. The second reason is that this is a home game, and Teague is a player that does benefit considerably from playing at home. The minutes and usage will be there tonight, Stuckey is hurt, Ellis isn’t right, Robinson is struggling… He likely won’t be a popular play, but is a solid tournament play tonight and could get you 7x+ for his $7,200 salary.
DraftKings Salary – $4,000
Most readers know that I love to find value at the SG position, and there are a few interesting plays in the $4,000-$4,200 range tonight. I particularly like Hardaway and Lavert, but prefer Lavert because of the matchup. In his first two meetings with the Cavs, the Nets rookie has averaged over 27 DraftKings PPG, and comes into this matchup playing considerably better basketball. His floor is arguably 5x value, but if he goes for 35 again, you are getting nearly 9x value from a punt play at the shooting guard position.
DraftKings Salary – $9,000
Given the fact that he’s a Spurs player with a red Q next to his name and has struggled in the Spurs previous two games against the Pelicans, I think Leonard’s DraftKings ownership % should be pretty low tonight making him an interesting tournament play here. In the week prior to missing these past two games, Leonard was playing some of the most efficient basketball we have seen this season, averaging 37 PPG on just 24 shot attempts per game. On the season the Pelicans are giving up the 7th most DraftKings PPG to opposing small forwards, and the 6th most over the past month. A regression to the mean here for a well rested Leonard would likely mean a 55-60 point DraftKings performance.
DraftKings Salary – $6,300
This won’t be a popular cash game selection, Serge has been inconsistent as his rebounding numbers have tailed off over the past week+, but you have to look at who the Magic played over that stretch. After facing teams like Chicago, Golden State, Milwaukee, and Utah over the past week, a matchup with the big-less Boston Celtics is just what Ibaka needs to get back on track. Despite the recent struggles, he still averages just under 5x value on the season for his current salary, so we know he has 7x+ upside.
DraftKings Salary – $4,600
This matchup with Brooklyn promises to create pace and offensive efficiency for the Cavs. If you look at their game log in similar matchups, Thompson and James are generally the two biggest beneficiaries in these types of games. In their two matchups with the Nets this season, Thompson is averaging 35 DraftKings PPG (a 36 point game and 33 point game). On the season, the Nets are giving up 54 fantasy PPG to opposing centers and Thompson should see his usual 32 minutes and needs a solid game after struggling for the past two weeks. Thompson has two 8x games in his last 10, and hitting 35 against the Nets again would give him a third.
DraftKings Salary – $10,200
Lebron is one of the better values in the super-elite group of players right now. Because he hits 25, 8, 8 with much less usage and effort than the majority of the other players priced over $9,000 on DraftKings, he is able to consistently give you 5x value for his $10,200 salary (season average is 5.2x value). In his last matchup with the Nets, James shot 70% from the floor and put up 60 DK points. Look for similar production from the King tonight.
