We are one week into the CFL season, and hopefully everyone that is new to Canadian football or just new to CFL on DraftKings, has a better grasp on how everything works. The game is very similar to the classic American version we are used to, but a few minor rule changes dramatically change to the way it’s played.
Before we jump into who we like for this week’s slate of games, here is a peak at the Vegas totals for each team in this slate:
Edmonton – 31
Calgary – 27
Ottawa – 27
Hamilton – 25
Winnipeg – 24
Toronto – 24
Saskatchewan – 24
Montreal – 22
The two matchups here that we really like are Edmonton and Winnipeg.
Week 2 CFL QB Pick
Chris Streveler – At $7,800, Streveler is one of the lower priced QB’s in this slate. Combine that with how good his arsenal of weapons is and the quality of the matchup, he arguably has one of the highest ceilings in the slate. That being said, as a rookie making just his second start, starting him does not come without risk. We are rolling the dice to allow us to load up everywhere else.
Week 2 CFL RB Picks
C.J. Gable – Gable was a swing and miss for us last week, but we are hoping that just helps to keep his ownership down for this plus-plus matchup with a Hamilton run defense that got shredded last week. His receiving yardage was an anomaly in week one, and we expect him to be right there with Harris at the end of the season as the most productive pass catching RB’s in the CFL.
Andrew Harris – Harris was just average in a great matchup, and was inexplicably missing from the Winnipeg passing attack. Look for him to join Gable as a bounce back player in week two. Nobody gave up more points, yards, fantasy points, etc.. than Montreal last season so this is the week for Harris to really get his 2018 campaign rolling.
Week 2 CFL WR Picks
Derel Walker – Just keep playing Walker every week… particularly in matchups this good. The beautiful thing about starting Walker is that he’s nearly impossible to shut out in this league. His supporting cast of receivers is as good as it gets, and his QB is the best in the league, making him just too hard to take away from the Edmonton offense.
Chris Williams – For those of you that may have just started playing fantasy CFL in the past year, go back and look at Chris Williams’ stats for the previous few years leading into last season. He consistently led the league in yards, YPC, touchdowns, etc… It looks like he has established chemistry with his new QB, Drew Willy who can certainly throw the deep ball and has proven success in this league.
