FanDuel NBA Plays for Tuesday, January 24th

This Tuesday night slate should make for an entertaining night of basketball, as we don’t have any ultra-elite players active, but there is certainly plenty of value available meaning you can pretty well construct your lineup around whichever 2-3 second tier studs you like. Before we jump into my picks for tonight’s FanDuel contests, here is a look at the Vegas lines for this slate. No huge spreads tonight, and a logjam of teams in the 104-110 point range.

Point Guard – Elfrid Payton

FanDuel Price – $5,100   |   Projected Points – 29
I really only like Payton, George Hill, and Austin Rivers at the point guard spot tonight. It seems like the top four guys: Wall, Thomas, Bledsoe, and Lowry are all in line for average nights, maybe 4x value, and there aren’t a ton of great bargain options either… So, if you are going to find 6x+, it’s likely going to come from somewhere in the middle of the position group. Payton has seen his usage and offensive numbers jump with Evan Fournier out of the Magic lineup. This makes sense as Payton is an energy guy that will always benefit from pace and ball movement, and Fournier is a ball stopper… With Evan out again tonight, look for Payton to reach 5x+ value for the 5th time in his last 6 games.

Shooting Guard – Dejounte Murray

FanDuel Price – $3,800   |   Projected Points – 24
Murray is a player we absolutely loved heading into the 2016 NBA draft, but when the Spurs stole him in the bottom of round one, I questioned how he would fit with their system. Through the first three games of increased playing time and usage, I would say he’s catching on quickly. First off, he’s a Parker-esque finisher in the paint (nearly 50% FG% this season), and has shot the ball extremely well in limited run this season (8 of 16 from 3). Given the fact that Parker is out again tonight, and he faces a Raptors team without DeRozan, I expect to see big minutes, usage, and production from Murray at nearly the minimum FanDuel salary.

Small Forward – Gordon Hayward

FanDuel Price – $7,400   |   Projected Points – 44
Hayward isn’t the sexiest DFS play as he doesn’t handle the ball enough on offense to give you those 55-65 point explosions, but he’s so consistent and in a matchup like this one he is 5x value in the bank. In a thin slate like this one, I think he’s as close to a must-play as you will find.

Power Forward – David Lee

FanDuel Price – $5,100   |   Projected Points – 29
David Lee is my favorite play tonight, because he doesn’t need the ball or a great matchup… he just needs minutes. Over the past three games, since the Gasol injury, everyone’s assumption is that Lee’s usage rate has gone up. However, it’s actually gone down (playing with first unit) his numbers have simply jumped because he’s getting more playing time. He will get 30-35 minutes again tonight, against an uptempo Raptors team, and he will be in the 6x value range.

Center – Karl-Anthony Towns

FanDuel Price – $4,600   |   Projected Points – 31
This is one of those slates that have so much value that you build a roster that leaves $6,000+ on the board and have to double back to find spots to spend it… If I’m dumping $9,000+ into one player tonight, it has to be the red-hot KAT. Even priced at $10,500, Towns has gone over 5x value in 5 of his last 7 games, and hasn’t dipped under 30 in almost 2 months. He had 28/15/3/2 against the Suns in December… that’s about his floor right now.

Our other top plays for the Tuesday night slate: George Hill, Austin Rivers, Jamal Crawford, Jimmy Butler, Joe Ingles, Markieff Morris, Jahlil Okafor
